Krishna — Machali’s Legendary Daughter
Krishna (T-19), the celebrated daughter of the legendary Machali, became an icon of Ranthambore in her own right. Born in 2007, she inherited many of her mother’s remarkable qualities — intelligence, confidence, beauty, and a strong territorial instinct.
But Krishna’s greatest legacy was not simply the territory she occupied. It was the extraordinary success she achieved as a mother, raising one of the most remarkable litters ever recorded in Ranthambore.
The Remarkable Five-Cub Litter
In 2015, Krishna gave birth to five cubs — including Arrowhead (T-84), Riddhi (T-124), Sidhi (T-125) and two males. Raising such a large litter in the wild is an enormous challenge. A mother must hunt regularly while protecting her cubs from predators, rival tigers, and other dangers.
Krishna successfully raised all five cubs to sub-adulthood, an exceptional achievement that highlighted her strength, experience, and remarkable maternal instincts.
Among her offspring, Arrowhead became particularly famous, eventually establishing herself as one of Ranthambore’s most recognizable tigresses and carrying forward the legacy of the Machali bloodline.
A Powerful Conservation Legacy
Krishna’s contribution to Ranthambore’s tiger population remains significant:
- Five cubs in a single litter — an extraordinary achievement in the wild.
- Arrowhead (T-84) — went on to become one of the park’s most celebrated tigresses.
- Riddhi (T-124) — established her own territory and continued the family lineage.

Krishna gradually disappeared from regular sightings, with her last known appearances becoming increasingly rare around 2020. Whether she moved into a secluded part of the forest or reached the natural end of her life, her story remains deeply connected to Ranthambore’s tiger dynasty.
Her greatest monument is not a place or a photograph — it is her offspring. Through her children and grandchildren, Krishna’s legacy continues to shape the future of Ranthambore’s tiger population.
